Tuross Head Alcohol Free Zones

Tuross has three zones identified under two seperate
Council policies.

What is the difference between a Zone and a reserve?

An Alcohol Free Reserve allows a police officer the right, under the Local Government Act, to issue an on-the-spot-fine of approx $120 for anyone found wth alcohol. A police officer can confiscate alcohol immediately and issue a fine.

An Alcohol Free Zone allows a police officer the right to confiscate alcohol and the possibility of issuing a $20 fine.

In accord with Ministerial Guidelines, Department of Local Government and under Section 644 of the Local
Government Act, the following Alcohol Free Zones be established for a period of three years ending on 23 June 2011 (08/80 22/4/08):

# Tuross The area of Evans Road fronting the Tuross Shops to the west
